On 27 April, 2012, the Space Shuttle Enterprise flew from Washington, D.C. to its new home in New York, flying piggyback on a 747. The shuttle's flight path took it over the Statue of Liberty, up the Hudson River along the west side of Manhattan to the Tappan Zee Bridge and back before landing at JFK airport. As part of the flyby, the shuttle passed over the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. After being transported by barge from JFK Airport, the Shuttle was hoisted aboard the Intrepid where it is permanently housed.
