Riding the Trans-Siberian Express from Beijing to Moscow is one of the great epic train journeys that takes you over 5,000 miles, through 8 different time zones, a quarter of the way around the globe. Travelling at approximately 50 miles an hour, the journey on the world's longest railroad takes you from Beijing through Inner Mongolia and the Gobi Desert to the Mongolian capital of UlaanBaatar before heading north to Russia and the vastness of Siberia. Following a stop in Ulan Ude, the train arches past Lake Baikal to Irkutsk and then onward through the Siberian wilderness to Novosibirsk, Ekaterinburg and Kazan before arriving in Moscow. In this gallery you will find photographs taken in Beijing at the start of the voyage, north to the border town of Erlian to Mongolia.
