Trulli (singular trullo) are traditional dry stone huts (mortarless) with corbelled roofs found in the Val d'Itria of Puglia. Alberobello has the largest collection of trulli, however, they can be found throughout the area. Legend says that the inhabitants would take the buildings apart when the taxman was due to visit, as a means of avoiding paying taxes.
