Il Pasquino
Statue near Piazza Navona known as the Pasquino, also known as one of Rome's "Talking Statues." In the Middle Ages, citizens would post satirical poems on the statue as a means to anonymously criticize the Pope, express dissatisfaction and denounce injustice. The name is believed to refer to a nearby tailor renowned for his intellect and witticisms.
