The Victor Emmanuel Monument at night, Rome
Located on Piazza Venezia, the monument was built between 1885 and 1911 to celebrate Italy's independence in 1870 and commemorate Victor Emmanuel II, the first King of a unified Italy. The central equestrian statue is of the King. Beneath the statue is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with its eternal flames.
