Palatine Hill and Circo Massimo
Panorama of the Palatine and Circo Massimo, Rome
One of Rome's 7 Hills, associated with the legend of Romulus and Remus, Augustus is credited with much of the development of the area.
Beneath the hill is the Circo Massimo, established in 329 BC for chariot racing. It is said to be the site of the Rape of the Sabine Women by the Romans.
