Sant Maria Del Popolo
High Altar and ceiling in the Church of Santa Maria del Popolo on Piazza del Popolo. Legend has it that this is the burial site of Nero and the church was built to try and rid the area of his ghost. The apse is decorated with 17th century gilded stucco reliefs The apse with its shell design is one of the earliest works of Bramante commissioned by Pope Julius II.
