Madaba and the Dead Sea, Jordan
Since the dawn of time Jordan has been at the crossroads of world history. Some of the world's greatest civilizations from the Caananites to the Assyrians, Judeans, Babylonians, Egyptians, Nabateans, Macedonians, Romans, Byzantines, Ottoman Turks, Muslims and Arabs have brought a rich contribution to the development of modern Jordan. These photographs were taken during a voyage of discovery that criss-crossed the country, taking us to many fascinating and beautiful places. In addition to the major attractions such as Petra, the Dead Sea and countless Roman ruins, we also developed a keen appreciation for modern Jordan, from downtown Amman to the villages in the Jordan River Valley where life moves to a slower rhythm. Madaba, Jordan
The Byzantine mosaics of Madaba depicting the oldest map of the Middle East, believed to have been created in the 6th century CE. The mosaic show fish swimming down to the Dead Sea and then turning around and swimming back up the Jordan River.
